The first rare disease department of the country was created in Debrecen, this was the reason of that the World Day of Rare Disease’s program was organized at the University of Debrecen on 25 of February. Another reason was the fact that a lot of patients are living at rural areas and they cannot go to Budapest to visit the event.There were more than 400 participants at the event, not just experts and medical students, but afflected families and all those who were interested in this event.
György Pfilegler, head of the Rare Disease Department said that they treat 100-120 patients a week.
The head of the center drew attention to a possible international cooperation with the European Reference Network, which will start soon. The aim of this cooperation is to provide patients the fastest care.
