One of the key players of the Debrecen handball team, Dóra Hornyák, suffered a serious injury

The cruciate ligament in Dóra Hornyák’s left knee is torn, so the DVSC-Schaeffler Hungarian national handball player will be out of action for a long time.

According to the website of the Hajdúság club, the striker, who was the captain of the national team at the European Championship in November, was injured in the first minute of the match against Siófok on December 14, while standing, and based on the tests, he will need surgery.

“The operation will be performed by Ernő Majzik on January 23rd in Budaörs, in the meantime, I will prepare for the operation with physiotherapy,” Dóra Hornyák told the DVSC website.

“I don’t want to dwell on what happened, it’s part of the sport, I’m preparing for my return. It will be a long way until I can play again, but I hope that eight months after the operation, in September, I will be back with the team.”
