Man arrested for threatening police officers

The court of first instance found the 30-year-old man guilty of threatening the police in Berettyóújfalu at home in October 2020. The court sentenced R. R. to 2 years 6 months in prison and 3 years to disqualify from public affairs for violence against an official.

The story began in a settlement in Hajdú-Bihar County, where a man was drunk in his home on October 22, 2020, at around 8 p.m. Police officers of the Berettyóújfalu Police Headquarters appeared at the property due to the investigation of a report of hen theft.

During the operation, one of the police officers entered the house with the consent of the residents there, looked inside the freezer, and then headed for the street where his companions were waiting. The officer headed for the front gate in the courtyard, followed by the 30-year-old defendant, who shouted and threatened the police officers who appeared on several occasions to abuse and kill him while he objected to the measure.

One of the police officers holding the service dog on a leash and with a muzzle next to him repeatedly called on the accused to stop, but he did not do so, dropped his top and raised both hands to hit the police, shouting and threatening to kill and beat him again.

The policeman then released Union, the service dog, who pushed the man back. The enraged accused, regaining his balance, went with his hands raised to the blow to the police officer who let go of the dog, who called the ebony to work again. Police then handcuffed the accused.

Judge Dr. Szabolcs Budai took into account an aggravating circumstance during the reasoning of the verdict that the accused had a history of multiple convictions, as well as was subject to several criminal proceedings when he committed the crime.

The district court’s verdict was not final, the prosecutor appealed for aggravation, while the defendant and his counsel reserved three working days to file a statement of appeal.
