Campus Festival will be held in Nagyerdő again, after two years Debrecen will be the first major light music festival in the country – the organizers announced at a press conference on Thursday at the Water Tower Gallery.

Festival director Péter Miklósvölgyi said that this year will be a full-fledged festival, with the same number of stages as in 2019, 80 percent of the season ticket has already been sold to the current Campus.

After two years of organizing the first major festival, Debrecen paved the way for the country, added Lajos Kósa, Fidesz Member of Parliament for the region, noting that “Debrecen will be the capital of festivals”.

“If you are vaccinated, come, but if you are not, get vaccinated first so that you can attendt the festival,” the politician said, suggesting that this year’s festival can only be attended with a security card.

Lajos Kósa pointed out that the law he introduced last year, which prohibits exclusivity, is making its debut on Campus, and producers and distributors of artisanal drinks must also be admitted to the events with their offer.

The government – through state-owned companies – supports this year’s Campus Festival with 70 million forints, Lajos Kósa indicated.

László Papp, Mayor of Debrecen, said it took courage to organize the Campus this year.

The Campus has a future in Debrecen, their goal is to be one of the most significant festivals in the country – he said, noting that the municipality supports the event with HUF 30 million.

Zoltán Bács, Chancellor of the University of Debrecen (DE), indicated that departments and institutes could apply to participate in the festival’s University Square program, but so many people applied to draw lots to see who could be there.

As a result, 27 institutes will be set up with 33 programs for the festival, where participants can get to know the teaching and research work at the university in an entertaining way.

Zoltán Dajka, the festival’s marketing director, said that there will be no foreign performers at this year’s festival, 200 programs are waiting for those interested in 14 venues.

Mol will perform on the big stage, among others, Tankcsapda, Ákos, Majka & Curtis, Bagossy Brothers Company, Rúzsa Magdi, Dead Money and 30Y. Rock (Depression, Leander Kills, Road, Subscribe) and pop (Follow The Flow, Irie Mafia, Wellhello, Margaret Island) will play the main stage on the Sopron stage, but iconic bands such as Vad Fruttik and Bohemian will also perform. Betyars – listed Zoltán Dajka, adding that the OTP stage is primarily aimed at young people with many hip-hop and rap performers.

The musical venue of the University Square evokes the atmosphere of a real bar stage with light, entertaining jazz productions (Tóth Vera Quartet, Elsa Valle, Swing A’La Django) and acoustic concerts (Márk Járai, Zolee Ganxsta and Vilkó Takács, Zoliton Czutor and his family).

Young, emerging talents will be presented on the Sound Catcher stage, in addition to 18 orchestras from Debrecen, the winners of several talent scouts will perform – Zoltán Dajka added, adding that Schaeffler Stage
