Road breaks in on main road 4

Local News

A part of main road 4 near the Homokkert overpass has broken in. Water had washed away the soil under the road which collapsed due to the heavy traffic a few days ago. Several lanes have been closed and it’s uncertain for how long.

The soil underneath the road has practically vanished; a cavity of about 1.5 meters is gaping beneath main road 4. The combined sewer system that accepts both waste water and rain water runs under the roads. The nearly 100 years old concrete element has been damaged in many places, has punctured as a result of which the water is leaking and is eroding the soil. Professionals are currently assessing the severity of the problem and considering the right way to solve it.
