More than 800 students donated blood at the University of Debrecen; many of them joined the campaign for the first time.
Nearly 13.000 students – those of the University of Debrecen included – participated in the 6. National Higher Education Blood Donor Competition held between September 2011 and May 2012. In Debrecen, 953 students registered for the competition and 813 actually appeared on the scene. There were 288 new blood donors. With all these, the university finished 6th in the competition. This result is excellent since in order to have a stable blood supply, the goal is that 5 percent of the Hungarian population would become donors and the University of Debrecen could almost accomplish this goal.
