Those who are caught bathing in places where swimming is prohibited might have to pay fines of up to 150.000 forints.
This year, nobody has drowned in Hajdú-Bihar County but several tragedies have occurred in the neighboring Borsod County. The police have launched an action to prevent accidents. In Hajdú-Bihar County, it’s prohibited to swim in almost all of the open waters with the exception of Macsi Balcsi. At first, policemen only warn illegal bathers but the second time, they impose fines the amount of which might be between 5 and 50.000 forints but in case a report is given to the police, the fine might amount up to 150.000 forints.
