An Italian company won the tram-tender of Debrecen. The cost of
the 18 new trams reaching 11billion Huf.


The fifth open European Union tender for the second tram line was effective.
The invitation to tender has been published on 1 July, with a deadline of August 17, 2010. Two companies submitted bids: the Spanish Construcciones y auxiliar de Ferrocarriles S. A. (CAF) and the Italian
Ansaldobreda Spa.
The winner is the Italian Ansaldobreda Spa. The company is one of Europe’s leading manufacturer of rail and tram vehicles. They manufacturing an assembling not only trams but subway and high-speed rail lines as well. The same company also recently won the Miskolc tram-tender. The Sirio tram is one of the most advanced urban rail product of the company. This type already running in 10 cities with more than 300 pieces.

The 18 vehicles in total net worth /with the maintenance equipment and tools, documentation and training, spare parts and complete maintenance during the warranty period and trouble-shooting/cost 41 million 280 thousand euro, slightly more than 11 billion forints. 85% of the cost financed by European Union support.

The length of the vehicle is 32 meters with a width of 2.65 meters. Can accommodate 228 people (48 fixed seats + 180 standing). Two disabled passenger lots in the cabin surfaces are established. The floor height of the doors are 33 and 5 cm. Number of doors: 4 double side doors, and a single door each end of the tram. The vehicle is made of steel. The empty vehicle weight of 42.5 tons. Designed for minimum life of 30 years.
