The Municipality of Debrecen is planning to close the Tourinform office at end of 2010. Tourists will not remain without professional assistance, the office
and the infrastructure will be taken over by a new organization.
Debrecen won 74 million HUF in the Northern Great Plain Operational Program with the aim to develop so-called tourist destination management organizations. The city is backing the Debrecen and Hortobagy
Tourism Association.
The project has imposed the condition that within a year Debrecen has to pass the infrastructure of the Tourinform office to the Association.
