The sister city of Debrecen has opened a brilliant “living window”

Europe

The public sculpture, which opens a window between the Polish sister city of Debrecen, Lublin, and the residents of Vilnius in Lithuania, resembles a sci-fi gate, Telex said.

An installation called Portal connects the two cities virtually with the help of a screen and a camera. According to Lithuanian public media, the creators of the statue, exhibited on May 26, worked on the implementation for five years. “Humanity faces a number of potentially deadly challenges, be it the polarization of society, climate change or economic issues.

But if we take a closer look, the solution does not depend on not having excellent scientists, activists, leaders, knowledge or technology. Tribal thinking, a lack of empathy and a narrow-minded approach, often confined to national borders, are causing these challenges.

Says Benediktas Gylys, who considers the Portal to be a kind of bridge.

Setting up the two Portals cost 46 million forints, and in the future, the installation would be set up in several parts of Europe and the world.
