In April, prices in Hungary increased by 24 percent


In April, consumer prices were on average 24.0 percent higher than a year earlier. In the past year, household energy and food prices have risen the most, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Wednesday.

Consumer prices increased by an average of 0.7 percent in one month.

Compared to April last year, the price of food products increased by 37.9 percent, including mostly dairy products (63.5 percent), butter and buttercream (62.1 percent), confectionery flour products (61.9 percent), bread (61. 6 percent), eggs (51.0 percent), dry pasta (47.6 percent), pastries (46.7 percent), cheese (45.4 percent) and milk (43.2 percent). Within the product group, the price of flour (8.8 percent) and cooking oil (3.4 percent) increased the least.

Household energy rose in price by 41.8 percent, including piped gas by 59.4 percent, firewood by 54.4 percent, bottled gas by 46.9 percent, and electricity by 27.3 percent.

The price of spirits and tobacco increased by an average of 20.5 percent, of which spirits rose by 27.5 percent.

Consumer durables had to pay 9.3 percent more, including 18.0 percent more for new cars, 16.1 percent more for kitchen and other furniture, 15.7 percent more for heating and cooking equipment, and 15.2 percent more for room furniture.

The KSH also announced that the price of pet food rose by 59.1 percent, detergents by 39.8 percent, personal care products by 28.3 percent, and home repair and maintenance products by 20.7 percent.

Vehicle fuels rose in price by 26.0 percent.

Fees for services rose by 14.1 percent, including taxis by 36.2 percent, domestic vacations by 28.0 percent, sports and museum tickets by 27.9 percent, highway tolls, car rental, parking by 27.6 percent, and vehicle repair and maintenance by 23 percent. ,4, home repair and maintenance cost 20.0 percent more.

Compared to the previous month, March, the price of food did not change on average. Within this, chocolate and cocoa 3.5%, non-alcoholic soft drinks and restaurant meals both 1.4%, coffee 1.2% more, cheese 4.1%, milk 2.7%, dairy products 2.0%, dry pasta 1.4, bread 1.3, butter and buttercream 1.0, Parisian and sausage 0.9 percent less.
